Dr Helen McCall MB ChB DRCOG LMCA MRCGP

I have worked as a GP for over 20 years and during this time I have been involved in many areas including Women’s health, fitting of contraceptive implants, medical education and have worked as the Clinical Lead for Cancer and End of Life.

My real passion throughout my career has been empowering people to make the right choices to live a long healthy life and significantly reduce the risk of developing long term conditions or to better control pre existing conditions.

Studying Lifestyle Medicine has given me the knowledge and experience alongside my General Practice work to be able to perform a thorough, holistic assessment and deliver evidence based guidance around all aspects of lifestyle including physical activity, nutrition, sleep and stress reduction.

If you are struggling with fatigue, weight gain, long term pain, stress, bloating and abdominal discomfort and tests have not found a cause for the symptoms then it could be that lifestyle is playing a part in this.  Alternatively, you may want to get into shape before an operation or even try to avoid an operation by making changes to your lifestyle. You may simply wish to find out how to lead a healthier life.

In the consultation I will measure a number of biometric markers including height, weight, blood pressure, BMI, body fat, visceral fat and skeletal muscle percentage, grip strength, heart rate monitoring and a fitness test.  I can also do blood tests for a more detailed assessment.

We then use this information to make a plan together to start making positive sustainable changes for healthier years ahead.
